Description

One of Spain’s most prominent and innovative artists, Joan Fontcuberta is best known for exploring the intersection between art, science, and illusion. Using computer software originally intended for the military, Fontcuberta creates a series of fantastical landscapes by transforming classic landscape painting and photography into virtual worlds. In Orogenesis: Kandinsky, 2004, he looks to Wassily Kandinsky’s The Starnberg Lake II and transforms the landscape into a three-dimensional fantasy world.
