Aperture is pleased to announce a specially commissioned, limited-edition print by Gail Albert Halaban, the artist renowned for her celebrated Out My Window series. Originally debuted at the 2025 Aperture Gala, this work is now available for public release.
The photograph captures Aperture’s soon-to-be new home at 380 Columbus Avenue, viewed from an upper floor of the American Museum of Natural History. The image embodies the spirit of community and connection that defines both the Upper West Side and Albert Halaban’s evocative body of work, which spans two decades and hundreds of New York City facades.
Each print in this limited edition of 50 is signed by the artist. By carefully staging intimate tableaux within the collective life of the city, Albert Halaban aims to inspire empathy between strangers. “We’re feeling very disconnected right now,” she notes. “If we just look at our neighbors and have relationships across the window space, it takes us out of the bubbles we’ve created for ourselves.”
Other photographs from Out My Window have been featured in the artist’s Aperture monographs, Paris Views (2014) and Italian Views (2019). Her work is held in the permanent collections of the George Eastman Museum, Rochester; Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, Connecticut; and the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles.
Proceeds from the sale of this work benefit Aperture’s capital campaign, directly supporting the transition to our new permanent home. Your purchase also sustains our mission-driven work, including Aperture’s publishing, education, and public programming.
