Michael Corridore: Untitled 16, 2008
Untitled 16, 2008, is from Michael Corridore’s body of work portraying spectators at various events, including auto races. During his time photographing these events, Corridore witnessed incredible moments of exhilaration that were quickly consumed by unsettling and surreal scenarios. The spectators and their environment would become engulfed in dust and smoke, making the events and landscape difficult to decipher. In the moments captured in his images, the reactions of the individuals often contrast the events in which they partake; their expressions and reactions appearing peaceful and dreamlike. Although the events themselves could be quite spectacular, Corridore is more intrigued by the moments that pose more questions than provide answers.
